The Morehouse Parish Emergency Response Team was formed April 1987 after a multiple drowning just south of Bastrop in Bayou Bartholomew. This fatal accident planted the seed in several minds that a rescue unit was needed.
Some of the people that volunteered their time at this accident met with other interested people, and with the help of the local Civil Defense Director, International Paper Company Officials, and the Crossett Arkansas Rescue Unit "MPERT" was born.
April 2007 is our 20th year.
